Marjanne and Björn Messie join Centre Consulting as Associate Partners

Marjanne and Björn joined Centre Consulting on the 1^st of March 2013. Marjanne and Björn started 15 years ago at KPMG Assurance and subsequently held different financial positions at different companies in various branches. They both hold an Executive Master of Finance and Control. Björn is considered to be an expert in concern consolidation, external reporting, project management and implementing of consolidation software while Marjanne is the expert on reporting, consolidation and Financial Accounting. They have extensive project- and projectmanagement experience on different EPM solutions like OracleHyperion HFM, SAP SEM BCS, SAP BPC and Tagetik. Centre Consulting is delighted to have Björn and Marjanne on board. Parliament votes reform package to strengthen EU banks

From 1 January 2014, EU banks will be stronger. Changes voted by Parliament on Tuesday will cap banker’s bonuses to curb speculative risk-taking, step up capital provisions to help banks cope better with crises and stiffen supervision. This EU banking reform package, the most comprehensive so far, should also spur growth, by making it easier for banks to lend to small firms that drive the real economy.

During this event, the subject matter experts within BPM international, Centre’s European network, shared their knowledge about the SAP EPM portfolio. Our partners from ifb (Switserland), and Valorgest (Portugal) participated to discuss and brainstorm about SAP BFC, BPC, Solvency II RDS, Insurance starter kit, FIM and Disclosure Management.

FinRep next step for banks

According to the CRD IV, FinRep applies to all institutions that “receive payable funds from the public, whether in the form of deposits or in other forms such as the continuing issue of bonds and other comparable securities and to grant credits for their own account” [2006/48/EC]. According to this definition EBA has made a list of credit institutions that are classified in the following types:
+ ‘CRD credit institutions’: legally defined as ‘an undertaking whose business is to receive deposits or other repayable funds from the public and to grant credits for its own account’;
+ ‘EEA branches’ operating in each EEA country: branches of credit institutions authorised in another EEA country which have the right to passport their activities.

Introducing Paulina Caceres de Aguilar

Paulina joined Centre Consulting on January 2013. She is 27 years old and originally from El Salvador. She graduated this past December from TiasNimbas Business School after completing her master with specialization in Financial Management. Previously she worked at Banco Agrícola in El Salvador as a Financial Control Analyst for one year. During this time her main responsibilities were the financial consolidation of the bank’s forecasts and the forecasting processes of the bank. She was also involved in several projects such as Assets and Liabilities Management implementation in the department and the development of an investment control system. Before this time she also worked at an airline and fulfilled her bachelor in Economics and Business Administration. Paulina: “I have always wanted to go into consulting because it involves working in a dynamic environment and participating in several projects, each with their own particularities. Centre Consulting offers exactly this with a focus on IT systems and Finance”. Paulina loves watching movies and jogging. Her new year’s resolution is running a half-marathon.

Introducing the Young Ones

This year we hired three new junior consultants. As on the picture from the right to left here are the introductions:

Centre Consulting introduces Sunny Sabaru. Sunny joined Centre Consulting on 1st of November 2012. She is 24 and originally from Indonesia. She finished her International MScBA program at TiasNimbas Business School in Utrecht on September 2012, studying finance management, with extended coverage on corporate finance and business economics. Her other academic background was international business law. She previously worked as Corporate Lawyer in Jakarta for 1.5 years where her responsibilities were drafting and finalization of legal and business reports, due diligences, offering memorandums and prospectuses, as well as assisting clients in capital market transactions for corporate head offices. She has worked with multinational teams and corporate structures for clients in Indonesia, Singapore, and the United States. Sunny: “I personally believe that the IT component within Finance will become increasingly important in the coming years. Centre offers me an excellent opportunity to improve my skills in the area where Finance meets IT.” Her personal passions have always been traveling and cooking. She is also an avid lover of dogs.

Centre Consulting introduces Chiara Romano. Chiara is 23 years old, just graduated from TiasNimbas Business School on Finance. She was born in Rome and used to live in Venice, Italy, where she studied Economics and Management at the University of Venice. During her third year she went for an exchange in Sweden, in a city called Jonkoping. Chiara:” Now that I have finished my studies, I want to work in consulting because you get to see a lot of different companies and do a lot of international work. Centre Consulting offers both and seems therefore, the right choice”. Chiara is an excellent Italian “Cuoca” and her favorite dish is “pasta alla norma”, meaning pasta with eggplant, tomato sauce and ricotta.

Centre Consulting introduces Jens Peeters. Jens is 31 years and studied Economics (BSc), Economic Geography (BSc) and International Business and Marketing Management (Ma) at TiasNimbas Business School Utrecht. Before joining Centre Consulting, Jens worked at a large construction company being responsible for the process of carbon reporting. Jens: “I am very excited to share my knowledge and experience on Carbon reporting”. This process is very much alike the financial reporting processes that are Centre’s core competence. And it fits perfectly the Sustainability reporting starter kits Centre Consulting has developed for Oracle and SAP”. Jens also worked as a salesman at a shipyard and worked as a consultant in Real Estate Investment and Consultancy. Jens has a great passion for sailing and his 2 goldfish.
